Members of the Nigeria Labour Congress are protesting in Ikeja, the Lagos State capital, in solidarity with the strike action of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

The group also used the opportunity to draw attention to other issues affecting the nation.

The score of protesters who stormed the street carried placards with several inscription such as “Reduce the cost of governance now, save the masses from poverty and hunger,” ‘Nigeria at 60 years of independence, more hunger in the land’, etc.

Another placard read, ‘Stop importation of petrol, refine the refineries.’

The nationwide protest organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress in solidarity with ASUU over the strike that clocked five months on July 14, 2022.

The police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have deployed personnel in critical infrastructure and facilities in response to the strike.
