The owners of Paris Saint-Germain are unsure about Lionel Messi’s request to show off the World Cup trophy at the next home match.
Goal reported that Messi asked the club to let him hold the trophy in front of PSG’s supporters but the club hierarchy are not sure about allowing him to show it.
The club leader’s main problem is that he won the trophy at the expense of France and his teammate Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe scored a hat-trick in the final and the club are worried about the reaction that having the 35-year-old wave the iconic trophy around would provoke.
Meanwhile, Messi’s countryman Emi Martinez has also incurred the wrath of the France football lovers.
Martinez made headlines for his continued digs aimed toward 23-year-old Mbappe amid the celebrations.
As well as leading chants against him, Martinez held up an image of Mbappe’s face in their bus parade while standing beside Messi.
PSG resume their Ligue 1 campaign with a home game against Strasbourg on December 28. The world is now watching if Messi’s request will be granted.
