The newly inaugurated President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Pharm Prof. Cyril Odianose Usifoh FPSN has emphasised the need for the integration of all the various groups that makes up the health family in Nigeria.

Prof Usifoh made this statement while delivering his speech on Thursday 10th February, 2022 at the Congress Hall, Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja during his inaugural ceremony as the President of the society.

The erudite professor asserted that being able to integrate all the various groups and family that makes up the health sector in Nigeria would definitely lead to a better positioned pharmaceutical services in Nigeria; considering the fact that Pharmacy in the country has come of age and is set to take the Nation to a better economic situation if well driven.

According to him,” the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria is already in discussion with the Primary Health Care people, the Community Health Pharmacists and so many other groups here and there to ensure a symbiotic relationship in order to facilitate a robust health sector.

If we are able to integrate our services properly together as a family, we will be able to drive the economy in the right direction. We have the manpower to produce what we need for our Pharmaceutical needs and also ensure medical security. If we are able to integrate our efforts effectively, we can then begin to talk about exporting our pharmaceutical products to the West African Region and actually save a whole lot of money for the Federal Government and earn money too”.

Apart from the various health related groups, we shall also engage the Federal Government closely to proffer solutions concerning medicine in the country, especially in the area of  containing the rate at which fake and adulterated drugs are produced and distributed in the country, he added”.

As member of the Health Sector Reform Committee inaugurated by the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; Prof. Osinbanjo, Pharm Prof Cyril Usifoh believes that with all hands on deck as a family working as a team, the projected health reform goals would be achieved in record time.

He therefore seized the opportunity of the inaugural ceremony to appreciate everyone who came from far and near; Senators, Ministers, Royal fathers, Pharmacists, people in the banking sector, and those who reached out to him  on phone. According to him, this shows that the pharmaceutical sector is the heartbeat of the country and has come of age.

He said, “It’s a thing of joy to be called to serve and I thank all my colleagues in the Pharmaceutical industry for the trust reposed in me. I therefore look forward for more of their support as we work together as a family”.
