President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Thursday for Makkah, Saudi Arabia, to perform the Islamic pilgrimage of Umrah and offer prayers for Nigeria’s peace, unity, stability and progress.
The President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, announced this in a statement issued on Wednesday, noting that the visit would provide Tinubu with an opportunity for spiritual reflection and devotion.
According to Onanuga, the President will observe the religious rites associated with Umrah and seek Allah’s guidance and blessings for Nigeria and its people.
The statement said the pilgrimage was part of the President’s spiritual commitment to praying for the country’s continued peace, unity and development.
Before leaving Abuja, Tinubu is expected to inaugurate equipment acquired by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to strengthen its operational capacity.
The inauguration will take place at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, ahead of his departure.
The President is expected to return to Nigeria next week after completing the pilgrimage.
