FRIDAY: 17th Septemebr, 2021: aThe Delta State Police Command has confirmed that at least one person was shot dead as violence erupted in Ughelli Kingdom in Delta State as the community observed its annual festival.

CEOAFRICA gathered that several people sustained varied degrees of injuries in the violence that erupted in Ekiugbo and Oto-Iwhreko communities when some enraged youths in the area reportedly resumed fresh hostilities, causing pandemonium in the locality on Thursday evening.

The Acting Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, while confirming the incident to journalists, insisted that it was one person that was killed and not two as being widely rumoured by locals.

The main cause of the brawl that led to the violent shooting of rival communal youths was sketchy, but sources said it could be a premeditated attack.

Our correspondent gathered that the two neighbouring communities of Ekiugbo and Oto-Iwhreko in Ughelli kingdom had previously engaged in communal war.
