The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has reported two suspected cases of Ebola disease in the North-East region of the country.

The agency made the disclosure in a statement shared on its official X handle on Saturday, October 31, 2026.

According to the NCDC, the two individuals have been isolated, while efforts are underway to identify and list people who may have had contact with them. Laboratory investigations are also ongoing to establish their health status.

The agency clarified that the identification of the individuals as suspected cases does not amount to confirmation that they have contracted the Ebola virus, noting that the outcome of laboratory tests would determine their status.

The NCDC consequently advised Nigerians to maintain proper hand hygiene, observe enhanced sanitation practices and comply with public health guidelines to reduce the risk of infection.

It assured the public that additional information would be made available as verified updates emerge.
