President Bola Tinubu has challenged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to explain how he established a university while serving as Nigeria’s vice president, alleging that public resources may have been used for the project.

Tinubu made the challenge on Saturday during his presidential campaign rally in Ikwerre, Rivers State, where he accused Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), of being among those responsible for the economic difficulties and hunger confronting Nigerians.

The President questioned how Atiku funded the establishment of the institution while serving in government, particularly as vice president overseeing the nation’s economy.

According to Tinubu, Nigerians should demand an explanation from the former vice president over the source of the resources used to establish the university.

He said, “To every salary earner, there is a dependent and somebody sharing the food at home, those people talking of hunger are talking about the mess they created. Atiku was one of them, ask him how he built a university while in office as Vice President in charge of our economy.

“Who built the university for him, it's your money, it's your effort. A man without moral integrity, latitude and ethics for the office.”

Tinubu also praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, describing him as a development partner of his administration.

The President commended Wike's commitment to infrastructure development, describing him as a hardworking leader with vision and a clear sense of mission.

He urged the people of Rivers State to appreciate the minister for his contributions to the country's infrastructural development.

Tinubu said, “Today I have many of you, Rivers people in government working so hard, particularly Wike. Wike is already a development partner of Tinubu's administration.

“He is doing a wonderful job, committed, very hardworking, a man with vision and combines that with mission. Help thank him for me for his contribution to the infrastructural development of our country.”
