Tanzania’s national football team, the Taifa Stars, are set to arrive in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, ahead of their crucial Matchday Three encounter against Nigeria’s Super Eagles in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The early arrival is aimed at giving head coach Miguel Gamondi and his players adequate time to acclimatise to the Nigerian environment and intensify preparations for the highly anticipated encounter.
Gamondi has named a 24-man squad for the crucial double-header against Nigeria, comprising 12 home-based players and 12 foreign-based professionals.
The Super Eagles will host Tanzania in the first leg at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, on Friday, November 13, 2026.
Both teams will renew their rivalry four days later, with Tanzania hosting the return fixture in Dar es Salaam for the Matchday Four encounter.
The two-legged contest is expected to be crucial to both nations' ambitions of securing qualification for the 2027 AFCON tournament.
