Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) has issued a strongly worded call on the Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, demanding immediate and decisive action following the recent killing of Christian worshippers in Angwan Rukuba, Jos.

The March 27 attack has triggered widespread outrage, with over 30 lives reportedly lost. The assault on the Christian community during a holy period has raised concerns about insecurity in the country.

In a message to the Defence Minister via her official social media handles, the lawmaker expressed disappointment over what she described as a widening gap between assurances given during his Senate screening and the current security realities.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan condemned the killings in strong terms, describing the incident as “another brutal reminder that Nigerians remain unprotected.”

She said, “Dear General Christopher Musa, Angwan Rukuba is another brutal reminder that Nigerians remain unprotected. During your screening at the Senate chambers, your words were filled with promises, and I allowed myself a sigh of relief at last, I thought.”

The lawmaker further said, “Well, prove now you are different and secure lives, or step aside. Enough of condolences. Enough of excuses. Nigerians want action, protection, and results!”

The senator’s remarks add to the growing chorus of voices calling for a comprehensive overhaul of Nigeria’s security architecture, as citizens continue to grapple with recurring attacks, particularly in vulnerable communities.

Without swift and coordinated action, such incidents may further erode public confidence in the government’s ability to safeguard lives and property.

Meanwhile, residents of Angwan Rukuba and surrounding areas remain in mourning, calling on authorities not only to bring the perpetrators to justice but also to prevent future occurrences.
