The Vice-Chancellor of Dominican University, Ibadan (DUI), Prof. Jacinta A. Opara, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Chief Ogbuefi Clement Nwagbogu Ilobanafor (Esesuo Agbara), father of the MD/CEO of CEOAFRICA, Prince Cletus Ilobanafor. Chief Ilobanafor passed on June 22, 2025, at the age of 93.

In a condolence message dated December 10, 2025, the University community—comprising the management, staff, and students—joined the Ilobanafor family and the CEOAFRICA organisation in mourning the departure of the nonagenarian elder statesman.

Prof. Opara, while paying tribute to the late Chief Ilobanafor, lamented that his passing “has robbed Nigeria of a committed patriot whose life embodied leadership, wisdom, and selfless service.” She noted that he was “a true Nigerian who made notable contributions to strengthen unity, peace, and progress.”

Describing him as a “beacon of moral integrity,” the Vice-Chancellor highlighted that Chief Ilobanafor’s life of devotion—to family, community, and God—had left a legacy that would continue to inspire long after his exit.

She also expressed sadness that yet another precious national figure had been lost to the scourge of cancer, a disease she said “continues to cut short the lives of individuals who still have much to offer.”

According to the letter, Dominican University stands firmly with Prince Ilobanafor and his siblings during this difficult period.

“In this time of sorrow, we join family, friends, and associates in honouring a life of enduring impact. May the Almighty God grant the Ilobanafor family strength and peace, and may He reward the departed soul for a life well lived,” Prof. Opara wrote.

She concluded by praying for comfort for the family and eternal rest for the late patriarch, describing his memory as “a blessing and a guiding light to all who encountered him.”

The Vice Chancellor further assured Prince Ilobanafor of the university’s prayers and solidarity, adding that the institution empathises deeply with the family during this difficult period.

"Once again, we express our condolences and empathise with your sorrow at this moment,” she added.

Late Chief Ogbuefi Clement Nwagbogu Ilobanafor, fondly remembered for his humility, discipline, and unwavering dedication to community progress, continues to receive tributes from organisations, leaders, and institutions across the country.

May his soul rest in perfect peace.
