UI 2019 Alumni Lecture: Air Peace boss, Barrister Onyema to deliver lecture on ‘Nigeria And The Rise And Rise Of Ethnic Nationalism’ today

The Chief Executive Officer of the Air Peace Airline, Barrister Allen IfechukwuOnyema will today deliver the University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA) lecture.

Onyema will speak on the topic “NIGERIA AND THE RISE AND RISE OF ETHNIC NATIONALISM”.

Allen Ifechukwu Onyema was born in 1964 in Benin City. Although, he hails from Anambra State, Nigeria, Allen grew up in Benin and Warri. He was born to Michael and Helen Onyema as the first of nine children.

He attended primary schools in Benin and Warri, before proceeding to St. Anthony’s Secondary school, Azia, Urhobo College, Effurun and Government College, Ugheli.

Subsequently, Allen attended the University of Ibadan where he studied law, and graduated in 1987. Thereafter, he attended the Nigerian Law School and was called to Bar in 1989.

After Law School, Allen was more interested in working as a Lawyer than the option presented to him by his Mum and Uncle. He was asked to work in Shell so he could stay under his parents care. Allen knowing what he wanted decided to independently walk his way into success.

In 2013, Onyema founded Air Peace, as a private Nigerian airline. According to him, the business was borne out of the interest to create jobs for people. Although, the process began far back in 2007, but it encountered many hassles.

Today, Air Peace provide services to major cities of Nigeria and fly to other international destinations such as; Senegal, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ghana, United Arab Emirates, India, China, USA and Gambia.

It is one of the biggest airline in Nigeria with series of aircraft including 3 Boeings 777.

Onyema is a philanthropist. He is interested in ensuring peace and tranquility in Nigeria, and has continued to work towards that goal.

However, Onyema is married to Alice Ejembi and they are blessed with four children.

The Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan, Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka will be the Chairman of the lecture. He will also be leading other management team of the noble institution and the Alumni towards having a successful event.

Expected at the Second Stanza of the 2019 Alumni Lecture to be in attendance  are policy makers, captains of Industries, Head of Organizations, CEOs, stakeholders, the academia, UI Alumni Association members, students among others. The lecture will hold at the UI Alumni Association Multipurpose Auditorium by 4:00 today prompt.
