DANGOTE PARTNERS NIOB TO ERADICATE THE MENACE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE IN NIGERIA

Dangote Cement Plc and the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) have agreed in partnership to surmount the dangerous menace of building collapse across the country.

CEOAFRICA news desk learnt the two organisations intend to investigate the cause to decipher the fundamental causes of weak structure and the eventual collapse.

Musa Yakubu, Chairman, Building Department of NIOB, while speaking to the news men at the 43rd builders conference/annual general meeting (AGM) in Abuja, disclosed that the agreement to develop a strong building culture will help tackle the phenomenon of building collapse in the country.

The regional manager of Dangote Cement, Johnson Olaniyi while speaking on the theme of the conference ‘Transformation of the Building Industry: Possibilities and Realities’, said the menace of collapsed building continues in the country because load bearing components are not properly used in accordance with specifications.

He however directs that a bag of cement should be mixed with not more than four wheel barrows of sand if quality building has to be obtained.
