FCAHPTIB Provost, Dr Owosibo receives Pest Control Facility from FMARD

As part of the efforts to boost and promote agriculture, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has officially handed over the pest control facilityof FMARD at NCRI compound, Moor Plantation, Ibadan, Oyo state, to the provost Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Dr Adekoya. O Owosibo.

The handover ceremony took place Wednesday, July 5th, 2023, at NCRI compound, Moor Plantation, Ibadan, Oyo state.The ceremony was witness by many guests and stakeholders from other institutions.

Commenting on the event, the Provost described the occasion as a welcome development and commended the initiative as a positive move to help the college to contribute its quota to education, human and national development. He noted that with this development and partnership, there are lots to be doneas the facility will be a very usefulto the college. “The building is going to assist us to achieve our mandate, which is to train individual man power, in the area of Animal Agriculture and other Agricultural sciences and related sciences, so this building will add a lot to us.”

While speaking on the progress made so far, the Provost revealed that the credit goes tocollaborate with other agencies. He said “Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology under my watch relate well with other agencies, so we collaborate together to make sure our mandate is achieved, either with the University, local government, State government and other Federal Agencies that are within our environment.”

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development who was represented by Dr Kakulu Omonele, the Oyo state coordinator commended the effort of the Provost, FCAHPTIB, for his dogged efforts at ensuring that the facility is released to the college.

In her address, Dr Kakulu asserted that: FMARD has various facilities across Oyo State ranging from office buildings, warehouses, one-stop-shops and farmers markets amongst others and some of these have been concessioned to investors; others handed over to respective beneficiaries while some are still awaiting approval in order to prevent dilapidation.

The Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology and Rural Development is saddled with the mandate of producing highly technical and well seasoned Laboratory Technologists, Animal Health Technologists and graduates of other associated disciplines for the teeming populace and the world at large to enable competition in the sector. To achieve this mandate, there is the need for a conducive learning environment and laboratory facilities; hence the ministry (FMARD) is releasing this facility to the college to boost its morale in practical sessions and to expose the students to real life situation of what is taught in class”.

In an exclusive interview with CEOAFRICA, Kakulu tasked the institution to enhance proper management, utilization and sustainability of these facilities and ensure that all proper management procedure are put in place and documented appropriately.
