The Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has said he will convince the Atalanta defender, Memeh Caleb Okoli, to switch international allegiance from Italy to Nigeria.
Peseiro disclosed this during an interview with newsmen.
Okoli, who was born in Italy is of Nigerian descent.
The 21-year-old has represented Italy at the youth level but he is still eligible to play for Nigeria.
The centre-back is a teammate of Super Eagles winger, Ademola Lookman at Atalanta.
Peseiro said he will give the latter the task of persuading Okoli to pledge his international future to Nigeria.
He said; “Yes, we will try. After this friendly match against Portugal, there will be time to talk to him and to understand his decision.”
“Whether he wants to play with us or not. I will talk to him through Lookman: I will present my model to him. , what do I think of him, the project we can have together with Nigeria.’’
