IGP, Police Reforms C’ttee meet UNDP, vow to collaborate

Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, Mr Usman Alkali Baba, and the members of the Force Management Team, under the auspice of Presidential Committee on Police Reforms, have met with the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Nigeria, Mr Mohammed Yahya, and his team, including the representatives of the German government, to discuss areas of further collaboration for chieving the Presidential Action Plan for Police Reforms in the country.
The meeting, which took place on Monday, 19th September, 2022, saw the exploration of possibilities of collaboration in the areas of training and retraining, support in acquisition of logistics, such as Information and Communication Technology gadgets, intelligent networks, welfare among others.
This was made known by a press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Nigerian Police Force, Mr Olumuyiwa Adejobi (CSP).
The IGP expressed willingness to support the UNDP, the international community and other relevant authorities under the Presidential Committee on Police Reforms.
While thanking the President, Muhammadu Buhari, for his unalloyed support to the force and commitment to security of lives and prioperties, IG Usman reiterated that the present government has shown maximum commitment to efficient and effective police service delivery in the country.
The head of the Nigerian Police Force NPF) also used the medium to recount some of his administration’s achievements; which include: completion of over 120 ultramodern stations across Nigeria, provision of barracks’ accommodation as well as health facilities, annual recruitment of over 10,000 to boost the available manpower among other developmental projects.
He stressed that the NPF will never back down; instead it will continue to increase its commitment to police service delivery, which has helped to improve security and reduce crime rate in the country.
