Fed. College of Animal Health and Production Technology organizes 3-day training and empowerment Programme for youths in Agriculture (Photos)

The Provost of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Moor Plantation, Ibadan, on Thursday concluded a 3-day training and empowerment Programme for youths in Agriculture.

The 3-day training which took place at the at the Dr. K.J. Nwufoh Hall, FCAHPT, Moor Plantation, was orgainsed in collaboration with TEEBEX Global Resource Limited and Emraj Global Services Limited.

The theme was: ‘Youth in Agriculture: Vocational Training and Empowerment of Unemployed Youths in Poultry Production and on Associated Value Chain’.

It was an intensive training, orgainsed to equip the youths with the knowledge and skills in agricultural value chain needed to support their families, ensure food security and contribute positively to the economy.

The empowerment program which was sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural development had all the participating youths received empowerment packages for their various start-ups which include;

*Broiler birds *Bags of broiler starter and broiler finishers *Antibiotics & Vitamins *Drinkers *Feeders *Transport allowances of #10,000 for each participant.

Speaking with CEOAFRICA, the provost, Dr Adekoya Owosibo, lauded the efforts of the federal government for its funding of Agricultural colleges and research institutes which he described as 100%.

He said "this vocational training is part of what the federal government has been doing in the past 10 years, the intention is to be able to empower unemployed youths, retirees and women to be able to go into the field of Agriculture. The Director, Vocational Training, (FCAH&PT) Dr. Femi Banjoko disclosed that the participants were selected from the six geo-political zones of the country adding that the college advertised earlier so as to attract more participation.
