THURSDAY: 19th August, 2021: Every August 19th is commemorated as World Humanitarian Day (WHD).

World Humanitarian Day (WHD) is designated by the United Nations to celebrate those people who have dedicated their lives to humanitarian causes.

It is also a day of remembrance for all those lives that have been sacrificed for the benefit of humanity, especially in memory of August 2003 bomb attacked on the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, that killed 22 people, including the Chief Humanitarian in Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello..

WHD was formalized by the United Nations General Assembly Day in the year 2009.

This year, the theme is “The Human Race”. It focuses on taking up global action to combat climate change while standing in solidarity with vulnerable populations around the world.

The United Nations has urged people, especially social media users, to mark this day by showing their solidarity for vulnerable populations.

World Humanitarian Day recognized the tremendous service of all the humanitarian heroes worldwide who in the best of their ability foster support, help the vulnerable individual globally.

So, let us celebrate this day by showing support and raising awareness among friends and family through messages, wishes and quotes.
