
Oyo state government has organized a security meeting among security agencies and members of the public. The meeting was held at the parliament building at the State House of Assembly today 27th May with the theme "Expanded stakeholders security meeting in Oyo state".
"Report what you see, don't neglect things" Col. I.A Taiwo said while addressing members of the public. Col. Taiwo analysed counter terrorism measures which include; prompt reporting of suspicious movement will reduce terrorism in our country; saying a little information will help us to be effective in crime control; constant training for members of the public would also be necessary.
Furthermore, he stated that members of the public should apply systematic security measures such as fences, gates, boundaries amongst others.
"Be conscious of your environment, wherever you are, don't feel too relax" the Oyo state public relation officer SP Olabisi Ilobanafor representing the police commissioner of Oyo state, Mohammed Indabawa ,advised. She further advised Churches and Mosque to make boundaries for security purpose.
According to the PPRO "Criminals are everywhere; they are insiders and let's take note of them; personal security is the best". "Churches and mosque should set up a security committee and invite the police to train them on effectiveness of service to protect the environment during worship".
Furthermore, she advised Churches and Mosques to disallow people pretending to hawk or sell worship material around Churches and Mosque. Also, if they can put a stop to people going into Churches with briefcases, and also parking of cars close to worship premises. "We should not isolate ourselves from security agencies, let's work together for effective security" she advised.
"We should uphold correct moral security values" the PPRO said. She advised the members of the public to be extremely vigilant, clear bushes around their houses, informed neighbours when travelling so that they can watch over your houses while you are away. Don't go out without informing people of your where about. Do not carry important files and documents around in your handbags or briefcases, install CCTV in your various houses for security purpose. The PPRO also advised.
According to the convener, Segun. Bolarinwa, special adviser on security and special duties said the general public on the general cliché in Oyo state that states that "Ajumose gbogbo wa ni (togetherness is the key to security)" let's join hands together to fight insecurity, he said.
