The catholic Bishop of Abeokuta Diocese and Bishop-in-charge of Catholic
Youths in Catholic Bishop Conference of Nigeria, Most Rev Dr.Peter Odetoyinbo has charged all Christian youths to participate in the maiden edition of the first Christian reality show in Nigeria.
Bishop Odetoyinbo made this statement when the Achievers crew, organisers of the programme, visited his office where they officially announced him as an ambassador of the programme.
Bishop Odetoyinbo, who was very happy to be part of the initiative, stated that Christian youths are better with events like this, stating that at a time where immorality and youthful exuberance has become the order of the day, the Achievers’ reality show would enable youths retrace their steps to the godly way.
The bishop also stated that he would use his office to ensure that catholic youths all over the country are well represented in the television reality show where godly virtues would be displayed.
The programme, tagged ‘Achievers Platform TV Reality Show’, is expected to be hosted by Youth Network Nigeria in conjunction with CEOAfrica which is the first business and leadership social media network designed to identify and celebrate African leadership and entrepreneurship thus creating a medium for positive change in African economy .
The founder of the network, Rev. Fr. Victor Ogunyemi, explained that the objectives of the reality show are: Build up spiritual life amongst the youths, promote culture of peace and conflict resolution, establish communal living amongst the youths, to inculcate leadership abilities on the participating housemates, to instil in the housemates, problem solving abilities, ability to cope with unfavourable conditions which will help in their psychological, moral, religious development and empowerment and to contribute our quota in poverty alleviation through financial empowerment of the Youths.
The Founder of CEOAfrica, Prince Cletus Ilobanafor, said the organisation believes that the reality show will further help to promote entrepreneurial skills among the youths which are the only way towards making Africa emerge the world economic power come 2060.
The reality show, which is the first of its kind in the whole of Africa, is expected to house 25 housemates from all parts of the country with good spiritual background and the screening s expected to begin by August.
'The programme is expected to kick start in the last quarter of 2016 and run for four weeks. Screening exercise will take place in various regions in Nigeria.
