The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a new online system allowing candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions through the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to verify and upload their O’Level results remotely without visiting Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres.

The new service, which initially covers results issued by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), is expected to ease pressure on CBT centres and reduce candidates’ exposure to long queues, network challenges and other difficulties associated with the conventional O’Level upload process.

Under the new arrangement, JAMB will electronically verify candidates’ results directly with the relevant examination bodies before uploading the verified records to their profiles.

The Board, in a statement issued on Monday by its Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said the initiative was designed to make its services faster, safer and more convenient while eliminating several challenges associated with manual result uploads.

According to JAMB, the digital verification system would also help prevent problems arising from misplaced or mixed-up paper certificates, the submission of unverified or fraudulent results, and errors in the manual entry of subjects and grades.

Through the integration of JAMB’s e-Facility platform with examination bodies, candidates’ results can now be checked against records held by the issuing institutions before being downloaded into their JAMB profiles.

The Board said the initiative formed part of its renewed customer-focused service delivery agenda under its sixth Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, with technology being deployed to reduce unnecessary physical visits, queues and paperwork.

To access the service, candidates are required to first obtain a result verification code through the designated result verification portal. They must provide their National Identification Number (NIN), indicate the number of O’Level sittings and select the relevant examination body or bodies, while also providing their email address and GSM number before making payment through the approved payment gateway.

After payment, candidates are required to enter their examination details, including examination number, examination series and examination year. Upon successful verification, a Verification Code will be issued.

Candidates must then send “VERIFY” followed by the Verification Code to 55019 or 66019.

JAMB said the verified result would subsequently be uploaded, with candidates receiving a notification confirming the successful submission.

For candidates with two O’Level sittings, the Board said they would need to log into their JAMB e-Facility dashboard and select “2026 UTME O’Level Upload.”

After entering the Verification Code, the two verified results would be displayed, allowing candidates to select the required subjects.

JAMB stated that candidates must select a minimum of five and a maximum of nine subjects, with no subject selected more than once, before clicking “Apply the O’Level Results.”

A notification would then be sent to candidates upon successful completion of the upload.

The Board said the new verification service would be particularly beneficial during periods of heavy patronage at CBT centres, when candidates often face long queues, network-related difficulties and delays.

JAMB further stated that it would continue to strengthen collaboration with examination bodies and other government agencies while expanding the use of technology to simplify its processes and improve the overall candidate experience.

The development represents another major step in JAMB’s digital transformation drive, shifting a critical admission-related process from physical intervention to a technology-driven system that allows candidates to complete the verification and upload of their O’Level results remotely.

The Board said the innovation reaffirmed its commitment to placing candidate convenience, efficiency and improved service delivery at the centre of its operations.
