IGP Disu deploys new Commissioners of Police to eight states, strategic formations

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has approved the deployment of Commissioners of Police (CPs) to eight state commands and several key police formations across the country as part of efforts to strengthen security operations and enhance leadership within the Nigeria Police Force.

The deployment, announced in a statement on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, received the approval of the Police Service Commission (PSC) and is aimed at improving operational effectiveness, reinforcing command structures, and advancing ongoing police reforms.

According to the statement, the newly appointed Commissioners of Police for state commands are Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo (Abia), Ayodeji Faniyan (Plateau), Saka Adewale Ajao (Bayelsa), Ajo Geoffrey Ordue (Cross River), Nanna Oji Ama (Anambra), Patrick Daaor (Edo), Tani Murtala (Jigawa), and Samuel Erale (Delta).

Beyond the state commands, the IGP also approved the deployment of senior officers to strategic units, including the Force Intelligence Department (FID), Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), Department of Training and Development (DTD), the Police Academy, and the Police Staff College.

Among the new postings, CP Yemi John Oyeniyi will head Intelligence and Training at the Force Intelligence Department in Abuja, while CP Charles Ezekwesiri Dike takes charge of INTERPOL at the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja. CP Aina Adesola has been deployed to the Department of Finance and Administration under the Department of Training and Development at Force Headquarters, while CP Uduak Ita Otu assumes duty as Commissioner of Police, Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, FCID Annex, Alagbon, Lagos.

Other deployments include CP Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf to the General Investigation Unit of the FCID, Abuja; CP Taiwo A. Adedeji to the Counter Terrorism Unit at Force Headquarters, Abuja; CP Ajayi Oluyemi to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the FCID, Abuja; and CP Bolanle Aremu to the Department of Finance and Administration at Force Headquarters.

Also affected are CP Ibrahim Lukunche Usman, who has been posted to the Inspectorate Department of the DTD at Force Headquarters; CP Mohammed Hassan Ahmed, now Deputy Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos; CP Rita Oyintare Oki, deployed to the Department of Finance and Administration at the Force Headquarters Annex in Lagos; and CP Ibrahim Umar D. Zungura, who assumes office as Commissioner of Police, Administration, FCID Annex, Kaduna.

In addition, CP Nelson Nwamana has been posted to the Police Academy in Kano, while CP Danbaba Mohammed Labbo has been assigned to the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Gombe.

The IGP charged the newly deployed Commissioners of Police to leverage their vast professional experience in strengthening intelligence-led policing, improving operational efficiency, promoting professionalism, and deepening community engagement across their respective commands.

He also urged them to remain committed to protecting lives and property while upholding the highest standards of discipline, accountability, and quality service delivery.

According to the police, the nationwide redeployment is part of ongoing reforms aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, strengthening institutional capacity, and improving policing services across Nigeria.
