The Air Force also confirmed the recovery of part of the aircraft's Flight Data Recorder (FDR), commonly known as the black box, as search and recovery operations continue at the crash site.
In a statement issued on Friday, November 6, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, disclosed that additional wreckage, engine components and human remains had also been recovered.
According to the statement, efforts are ongoing to locate and retrieve the remaining portion of the Flight Data Recorder, alongside other outstanding aircraft components.

He added that the investigation was progressing with due diligence to ensure that all relevant evidence is properly recovered and subjected to comprehensive technical examination.
The ATR-42 aircraft reportedly crashed on October 5, 2026, while undertaking a routine mission from Benin to Lagos, with five crew members and 20 passengers on board.
