Nigeria’s Super Falcons have distributed training kits and essential football equipment to about 150 grassroots female football teams across the country under their "Mission X" Legacy Project, an initiative aimed at promoting the growth of women’s football and empowering the next generation of female players.

The African champions unveiled the initiative in a video shared on Instagram on Tuesday, where Super Falcons stars Rasheedat Ajibade and Halimatu Ayinde explained that the project was born out of the team's desire to create a lasting impact beyond their triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

According to the players, the squad resolved before the tournament that their campaign would not only be about winning the continental title but also about inspiring and supporting young girls pursuing careers in football.

"Going into the WAFCON 2025 in Morocco, we, the Super Falcons of Nigeria, came together with a goal to use our victory to inspire the next generation and as a tool for change,"* they said.

Following their successful title-winning campaign, the team identified approximately 150 grassroots female football clubs across Nigeria that lacked adequate resources and decided to provide them with essential training materials.

"After winning the WAFCON 2025, titled Mission X, we reached out to about 150 grassroots female football teams across Nigeria because we knew the challenges they face. We knew resources are scarce, the support is limited, so we decided to take action,"* they added.

The donation included training kits, footballs, cones and bibs—basic equipment the players described as critical to the development of young footballers.

"We distributed training kits and essential equipment, things like balls, cones and bibs, just the basic things they need to chase their dreams," they said.

Ajibade and Ayinde noted that the initiative represents more than a donation of sports equipment, stressing that it is intended to reassure young female footballers that their aspirations matter.

"This is more than just giving supplies; it is about showing that their game matters, their dream matters, their dreams are valid. We see them, we hear them, and we are here to support,"* they said.

The Super Falcons described the beneficiaries as the future of Nigerian football and reaffirmed their commitment to helping nurture emerging talents across the country.

"To the young players out there, you are the future of Nigerian football, and we believe in you," they said.

Reflecting on the significance of the project, the players said the team's legacy should be measured not only by the trophies it has won but also by the opportunities it creates for future generations.

"As a team, our legacy isn't just about winning trophies; it's about being the change, being that spark that ignites a movement," they said.

They added that every kit distributed under the Mission X initiative symbolises a long-term commitment to the growth of grassroots women's football in Nigeria.

"Every kit that we gave them is a promise—a promise that we're walking this journey together with them, that we're building something bigger, something that will last. This is the Mission X legacy," they said.

Reiterating their message to aspiring female footballers nationwide, the players urged them to remain committed to their dreams.

"To all the aspiring grassroots female footballers, you are the future of Nigerian football, and we believe in you," they concluded.
