The Federal Government has stepped up efforts to conduct fresh recruitment for new personnel into the Nigerian Immigration Service.

The exercise, to be conducted by the Presidential Committee to Assist in Immigration Recruitment, is coming barely a year after the unfortunate recruitment that led to the loss of several applicants, with many others injured.

The committee, chaired by the chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), Deaconess’ Joan Ayo, had, on Monday, placed advertorial in some national dailies, requesting applications from suitable Nigerians for enlistment into the Nigeria Immigration Service starting from February 9 till March 22.

Public Relations Officers of NIS, who confirmed the development, told the Nigerian Tribune, in Abuja, on Tuesday, that adequate arrangements had been made for a hitch-free and transparent exercise.

He noted that the application is free and must be done online as indicated in the advertorial.

President Goodluck Jonathan, it will be recalled, directed the cancellation of the recruitment exercise held last year and ordered that fresh one be conducted in a civilised manner.
