The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the successful upload of the nomination particulars of its presidential and vice-presidential candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal ahead of the 2027 general election.

The party confirmed that its presidential candidate, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, and vice-presidential candidate, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, have been duly registered on the electoral body’s nomination platform.

ADC National Publicity Secretary, Malam Bolaji Abdullahi, disclosed the development in a post on his X handle on Tuesday night, describing it as a major milestone in the party’s preparations for the elections.

“We are pleased to announce the successful upload of the names and particulars of our presidential and vice-presidential candidates to the INEC nomination portal,” Abdullahi said.

According to him, the submission reflects the ADC’s commitment to providing Nigerians with a credible alternative founded on competence, unity, and national renewal.

Atiku secured the party’s presidential ticket after defeating Amaechi and businessman Mohammed Hayatu-Deen in the ADC primary election. Results announced in Abuja showed that Atiku polled 1,846,370 votes across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to emerge victorious.

Amaechi came second with 504,117 votes, while Hayatu-Deen garnered 177,120 votes.

Following the primary, the ADC selected Amaechi as Atiku’s running mate for the 2027 presidential election.

Announcing the decision, Abdullahi described the Atiku-Amaechi ticket as a platform for national unity, noting that the choice followed extensive consultations with party leaders, coalition partners, youth and women groups, as well as representatives of the six geopolitical zones.

He said Amaechi earned the nomination after finishing as runner-up in the presidential primary and receiving broad support from party members.

According to Abdullahi, Amaechi’s vast experience in both the legislative and executive arms of government makes him well qualified for the position.

“Amaechi’s emergence reflects his outstanding record of public service and his enduring appeal as one of Nigeria’s most experienced political leaders,” he stated.

The party highlighted Amaechi’s political career, noting that he served as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, completed two terms as Governor of Rivers State, and later served as Minister of Transportation, where he oversaw major rail and transport infrastructure projects nationwide.

ADC said the Atiku-Amaechi partnership brings together two seasoned leaders with the capacity to tackle Nigeria’s challenges and drive national development.

“The proposed partnership represents more than a political alliance; it is the coming together of two tested statesmen committed to national renewal,” the statement added.

The party further expressed confidence that Amaechi’s political influence in the South-South and across Southern Nigeria would enhance the ticket’s national appeal and electoral prospects ahead of the 2027 polls.
