Seriake Dickson, founder and national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has said the party is ready to welcome politicians and citizens seeking a credible alternative platform amid ongoing political developments in the country.

The NDC was formally registered by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in February. Shortly after, on March 5, Dickson, a former governor of Bayelsa State, publicly declared his decision to align with the party during a press conference in Abuja. The party further expanded its outreach on March 15 with the launch of a digital membership registration platform.

Dickson, who currently represents Bayelsa West in the Senate, stated that the NDC is open to Nigerians who feel disillusioned with existing political structures.

“Our party is available for all Nigerians who are now helpless and desirous of change,” he said.

He added that the party is particularly positioned to accommodate politicians affected by instability within their current parties.

“The NDC is also available to politicians who are stranded as a result of ongoing political developments and who require a platform that is clean and free from internal crises,” he said.

Dickson described the NDC as an ideology-driven party focused on governance, ideas, and service delivery, noting that its emergence has unsettled some established political actors.

“The NDC represents a new brand of politics anchored on ideas and service,” he said. “Those spreading falsehoods and propaganda should understand that the party is here to stay and will continue to mobilise support nationwide.”

He urged Nigerians, both at home and in the diaspora, to support the party, expressing confidence in its growing momentum.

“While some may feel threatened by our progress, no force can stop an idea whose time has come,” Dickson added.

His remarks come against the backdrop of recent developments within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where the electoral body has de-recognised the party’s leadership amid ongoing legal disputes.
