The United States Department of State has issued an urgent travel advisory directing American citizens to immediately depart several countries across the Middle East following a sharp escalation in regional tensions.

In the March 2, 2026 alert, US officials warned that security conditions across more than a dozen countries in the region could deteriorate rapidly amid intensifying military developments and the threat of retaliatory attacks.

The department urged Americans to leave while commercial travel options remain operational, stressing that waiting could significantly increase risks.

Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs, Mora Namdar, delivered the advisory, calling on US nationals to prioritise their safety by making immediate travel arrangements and limiting unnecessary movement within affected areas.

“US citizens should depart now while commercial options are still available,” the advisory emphasised, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the unfolding crisis.

Although the State Department stopped short of ordering a mandatory evacuation, it made clear that Americans should not delay departure where it is safe to do so. Those unable to leave were advised to shelter in place, maintain heightened situational awareness, and remain in close contact with the nearest US embassy or consulate.

The warning comes amid rising hostilities involving key regional powers, fuelling concerns of a broader conflict that could further destabilise the Middle East.

US authorities stated that they are closely monitoring developments and will update travel guidance as necessary in response to evolving security conditions.
