The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the results of the 2025 Second Series Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for private candidates, with 42.17 per cent of candidates achieving five credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
In a statement issued by the Council’s National Office in Lagos, Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of the Public Affairs Unit, confirmed that candidates can access their results through [www.waecdirect.org](http://www.waecdirect.org).She added that candidates may subsequently proceed to [www.waec.org](http://www.waec.org) to access their digital certificates. Those requiring hard copies were advised to apply online via the WAEC Certificate Request Portal (e-Certman).
According to the Council, 69,604 candidates registered for the examination, representing a 1.8 per cent increase over the 68,342 recorded in 2024. Of this number, 65,752 candidates sat for the examination across 370 centres nationwide.
Gender distribution showed that 32,005 candidates (48.68 per cent) were male, while 33,747 candidates (51.32 per cent) were female. In addition, 235 candidates with special needs, including the visually impaired, hearing impaired, and albinos, also participated in the examination.
WAEC disclosed that 61,943 candidates (94.21 per cent) have had their results fully processed and released. However,3,809 candidates (5.79 per cent) have some subjects still undergoing processing due to errors attributable to the candidates. The Council assured that efforts are ongoing to conclude the processing promptly.
Performance analysis further revealed that 33,989 candidates (51.69 per cent) obtained credit and above in at least five subjects, with or without English Language and Mathematics. More significantly,27,727 candidates (42.17 per cent) achieved five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics. Of this group,13,416 candidates (48.39 per cent)we re male, while 14,311 candidates (51.61 per cent)were female.
Meanwhile, WAEC disclosed that 1,899 candidates (2.89 per cent) had their results withheld due to alleged examination malpractice. The Council stated that investigations are ongoing and that affected candidates will be duly informed of the final decisions after consideration by the appropriate committee.
