The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed viral reports alleging the existence of a kidney-harvesting syndicate operating around Nyanya and Mararaba in Abuja.

The reports circulating on social media claimed that some young people residing around Nyanya had sold their kidneys for money, while an alleged agent in Mararaba was purchasing human kidneys.

However, the FCT Police Command, in a statement issued on Wednesday by its spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said it had neither received nor confirmed any report relating to the alleged organ-trafficking activities.

Adeh stated categorically that no statement or official communication confirming such allegations had emanated from the Command.

The police spokesperson urged members of the public to disregard the publication and refrain from sharing unverified information capable of creating unnecessary fear, panic and apprehension among residents.

The Command, however, encouraged anyone with credible information concerning alleged human organ trafficking or any other security threat within the FCT to report promptly to the nearest police station.
