The Federal Government has transferred Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to a correctional facility in Sokoto State, according to his former lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor.

Kanu was moved from the Department of State Services (DSS) detention facility in Abuja less than 24 hours after he was handed a life sentence by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court.

The judge had convicted him on multiple counts of terrorism after several years of trial.

Ejimakor, in a post shared on X on Friday, confirmed the development, disclosing that the relocation would further distance Kanu from his legal team and family members.

“MAZI NNAMDI KANU has just been moved from DSS Abuja to the correctional facility (prison) in Sokoto; so far away from his lawyers, family, loved ones and well-wishers,” he wrote.
