Abara's family announces funeral programme for Late Community Icon, Chief George Ude Abara

The Abara’s Family of Iketaku Kindred, Ndibe Okparaike in Umo-Ihe Autonomous Community, Akaeze, Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, has announced the funeral arrangements for their patriarch, Late Chief George Ude Abara, popularly known as Okwuanasoanya 1, (Alias Oriri-Nso), who passed away on March 18, 2025, at the age of 89.

Chief Okwuanasoanya was widely admired for his humility, generosity, and unassuming strength — qualities that earned him deep respect within and beyond his community. His life of service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to family and communal harmony made him a revered figure whose influence spanned generations.

Since his passing, condolences have continued to pour in from relatives, neighbours, colleagues and friends at home and abroad, all testifying to the remarkable life he lived and the impact he made on countless lives.

In a statement issued by Papa’s first son, Mr Christopher Abara, the funeral rites will commence on Thursday, December 18, 2025, with a Service of Songs and Vigil at his compound in Ndibe Okpara-Ike, Iketaku, Ihenta-Akaeze, Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. The event, scheduled for 5:00pm, will provide an opportunity for relatives and well-wishers to offer prayers and share cherished memories of the late Chief Abara.

The Funeral Service will hold on Friday, December 19, 2025, at the Community Primary School Field, Ugwunechi, Ihenta-Akaeze, beginning at 10:00am, interment follows immediately at his compound.

Chief Abara is survived by his wife, children, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, and a large circle of friends and well-wishers who hold his memory dearly.

The family invites the public to join them in honouring the life, legacy, and enduring influence of a man remembered for his integrity, kindness, and steadfast devotion to his community.

May his gentle soul find eternal rest in the bosom of the Almighty, Amen.
