Several people are feared dead following the reported crash of an aircraft in Igbokoda, headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Monday.
The incident reportedly occurred in the coastal community, throwing residents into panic as emergency responders and security agencies moved to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Details of the incident remained unclear as of press time, including the identity of the aircraft, the number of people on board and the exact location of the crash.
A community leader who confirmed the incident said residents were still trying to establish the precise location of the crash and obtain further information.
“Yes, it is true. A helicopter crashed at Igbokoda, Ondo State, but we don’t know the exact place and other details,” he said.
The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, said he was not aware of the incident when contacted.
He, however, promised to make further inquiries and get back to journalists with details.
As of press time, there was no official confirmation of casualties or the identity of the aircraft, while efforts were ongoing to establish the facts surrounding the reported crash.
