As part of activities marking this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) is set to hold its annual “Jog for Life Ibadan 2025” on Saturday, October 18, 2025, in the Oyo State capital.
The health awareness event, which has become a signature advocacy programme of BRECAN, will take off from Oba Akinbiyi Model College, Premier Hotel Junction, Mokola, and end at Dominican University, Samonda, Ibadan. It is designed to raise consciousness about breast cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment, while also promoting healthy living through physical fitness.
October, globally recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, provides an avenue for organizations and advocates to intensify campaigns against the disease and support survivors. BRECAN, founded in 1997 by Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has over the years championed national awareness through public enlightenment, free screenings, and community outreach programs. The association continues to lead the conversation on early detection, patient support, and policy advocacy for improved access to care in Nigeria.
The Jog for Life event typically features a blend of fun, fitness, and education. Participants will enjoy health talks by medical experts, free breast screening sessions, entertainment, and motivational moments celebrating cancer survivors. There will also be opportunities for corporate and community sponsorships to support BRECAN’s ongoing campaigns.
Speaking on the significance of the annual event, organizers said the Jog for Life symbolizes hope, courage, and unity in the fight against breast cancer, while serving as a reminder that early detection saves lives. The exercise is expected to draw hundreds of participants, including health workers, survivors, students, advocacy groups, and the general public.
The 2025 edition is supported by several partners including Dominican University, TamBo Foundation and Aquatek Pharma Research & Consultancy. For sponsorship or participation, interested individuals and organizations can contact 07030713798 or 08065124709.
