The Super Falcons of Nigeria will face host nation Morocco in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after edging out arch-rivals South Africa 2-1 in their semi-final clash.

Goals from “Rasheedat Ajibade and Michelle Alozie were enough to keep alive Nigeria's hopes of a record-extending 10th continental title despite

Ajibade broke the deadlock just before the break with a fine finish from the penalty spot after a handball by Bambanani Mbane in the South African box.

South Africa, the defending champions, were rewarded in the 60th minute when Hildah Magaia was brought down by Osinachi Ohale, leading to a penalty.

But just as extra time approached, Michelle Alozie struck a sensational long-range winner deep into stoppage time to seal the final scoreline.

In another semi-final clash, Morocco defeated Ghana 4-2 on penalties at the Olympic Stadium in Rabat on Tuesday night.

The Atlas Lionesses and Black Queens played out a 1-1 draw over 120 minutes, with Stella Nyamekye and Sakina Ouzraoui netting for the West and North African teams, respectively.

The tournament hosts were then able to defeat Ghana after they missed twice in the penalty shootout.
