The Deputy Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludare Kadiri, has been impeached over allegation of gross misconduct.
Kadiri’s impeachment was pronounced on Thursday by the Speaker of the State House Assembly, Olakunle Oluomon, after the ad-hoc committee constituted to investigate the allegations against him found him guilty.
It was disclosed that the law maker was arrested and interrogated by the Police at the state headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta on Friday.
The Ogun State Police spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed that he was arrested for allegedly leading a team of thugs to attack some politicians, including the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, in Oru-Ijebu, Ijebu North Local Government.
Kadiri was detained at the Criminal Investigation Department, but later released.
Subsequently, some of his colleagues signed a petition seeking his removal
18 out of 26 members of the assembly voted for his impeachment.
Kadiri represents Ijebu-north at the assembly.
