University of Nigeria Alumni Association inducts former Oyo Deputy Governor, Olaniyan as BoT member

The University Nigeria Alumni Association (UNAA) has appointed and inducted a former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engr Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan, FNSE, ALoHA as a member of the Board of Trustees.

The induction took place at the Office of the Trustee on Friday, April 12, 2024, during a visit by the delegation of the UNAA National President, Lady Doris Okoro, Ph.D, ALoHA and the National Executive Council of the body to celebrate the formalization of his membership into the board.

While the ceremony started with an Opening Prayer led by the Secretary, UNAA Ibadan, Alhaji M. M. Alade; the President of UNAA Ibadan, Mr Gabriel Oluyemi Ojesanmi gave the opening remarks.

Ojesanmi stated that the trustee has demonstrated commitment to the charge of restoring human dignity so much that the branch enjoys facilitated benefaction from him.

After a brief citation of the Trustee by Fr. Francis Chiadi, OP, the UNAA Zonal Vice President, Alh. Mogaji Q. Adeniyi Salahudeen presented the certificate of BoT membership and vested him with a medal.

Filled with joy for the recognition and fiduciary responsibilities, His Excellency, Engr Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan FNSE, promised to serve humanity through the opportunity of his appointment, giving the assurance of always responding to the call of duty when called. Boasting that the many achievements of UNN graduates are consequences of what the university imbibed in them and that their alumni are always very versatile and rugged, Olaniyan deemed the award as a mandate for more responsibilities.

Fr. Francis Chiadi, OP said the vote of thanks, to the delegation and the host for setting aside quality time for the occasion. The event, which did not go without a nostalgic rendition of the UNN anthem, ended with a group photograph.

Formed in 1963, UNAA aims at strengthening and collaborating with the alma mater in the creation of a functional, globally competitive and research-focused university that is responsive to the needs of the society while delivering world-class education and knowledge as well as promoting core values that ensure the restoration of the dignity of man. Its Life Patrons/Grand Patron are, Alabo (Dr) G.T. Toby, ALoHA, KSC, DSSRS (Life Patron 1); Chief Engr Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, ALoHa, MFR, OON, CFR (Life Patron 2); Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin Kingdom (Grand Patron).

The induction of Engr Rauf Aderemi Olaniyan, FNSE, ALoHA, as a BoT member of UNAA is another addition to his pile of qualifications, honours, and recognitions, which include, Fellow, Institute of Public Administration (FIPA), and Fellow, the Civilian Institute of Democratic Administration of Nigeria (FCIDAN).

With several decades of work experience, Olaniyan retired as a Permanent Secretary in the Oyo State Civil Service in 2011 to serve the public in the private sector.
