Prime Minister, says ‘Egypt’s army ready to ward off any threat’
Jun 26, 2020

The Egyptian Armed Forces units are ready to ward off any danger to the country, stated Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Mabdouli on Thursday.

In a weekly meeting with a number of ministers including the health minister, Madbouli praised the Egyptian armed forces, saying he is very proud of the Egyptian armed forces when he visited the Western Military Zone at the beginning of this week.

On June 20, 2020, President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi checked on the forces in the Western Military Zone telling them, "The Egyptian Army is one of the strongest in the region. Yet, it is a wise army that protects but doesn't threaten, and is able to defend the national security of Egypt within and beyond its borders."

The president warned in his speech in Sidi Barani district in Matrouh Governorate bordering Libya against the foreign intervention in Libya for it composes a threat to regional, European, and global security and stability.

Oil-rich Libya has been torn by violence, drawing in tribal militias, jihadists and mercenaries since the 2011 toppling and killing of long-time dictator Muaamar Kadhafi in a Western-backed uprising.

Turkey is implementing a military deployment at Libya to shore up the UN-backed government, while Khalifa Haftar is backed by Egypt, Russia, and the United Arab Emirates.
