The vice presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rotimi Amaechi, has declared that the opposition is prepared to match President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's actions ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting they will respond accordingly "at the field."

Amaechi made the remarks on Tuesday during an appearance on Channels Television's Politics Today, where he reacted to President Tinubu's confidence about winning the next presidential election.

He said the President was free to make any public declaration about the outcome of the polls, stressing that the real contest would be decided when Nigerians go to the ballot.

"Let the president continue to tell the public that he would win the election at all cost until we get to the field," Amaechi said.

He continued, "Whatever the president wants us to do at the field, we will do it. I'm not worried about what he wants to do. We will meet at the field."

The former Minister of Transportation also maintained that Nigeria needed a change in leadership, accusing the current administration of actions he claimed were offensive to his beliefs.

"Nigeria has to be rescued. What the president and his men are doing is insulting my faith," he added.

Amaechi was one of the aspirants who contested the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary in 2022 but lost the party's ticket to Tinubu.

He subsequently defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, where he was picked as the running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on the party's presidential ticket.
