Following the recent redeployment of the Police Commissioners across the country, the new Commissioner of Police for Oyo state, CP Shina Tauru olukolu, has assumed office replacing the departing CP Abiodun Odude.

According to the press release, the new CP is an indigene of Eti-osa Local Government Area of Lagos State. The CP who holds a BSc and MSc degrees in Political science from the University of Lagos enlisted into the Nigerian Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police in 1988.
The Commissioner of Police has attended various-on-the-job courses. These include: Administration of Criminal Justice Course, Civil Disturbance Management Course, Police Staff College, Ikeja, and ‘A’ Course at the Police Staff College, Jos.
The CP has carved a niche for himself as a thorough-bred professional who distinguished himself in all the places he has served. As a successful crime fighter, he is bringing his wealth of experience to bear on policing of Oyo state.
CP Olukolu upon his assumption assured the people of Oyo state of adequate security before, during and after the forthcoming general elections while also soliciting the support of all and sundry to enable him succeed in his new assignment.
Prior to his recent appointment, he has served in various capacities as Administration Officer, Operations Officer, Lagos State, OC Documentation, Police Staff College, Ikeja, Lagos and PPRO in Ogun state. Other appointments held include but not limited to: DPOs across the country, Director, Liberal Studies, Staff College Jos; AC ‘X’ Squad Zone 12, Bauchi State; DC Zonal CHD, Zone 10, Sokoto State, DC, Administration, Maritime Command, Force Headquaters Annex, Lagos; DC Zonal CIID Zone 2, Lagos; DC, Departmet of Research and Planning, Force Headquarters, Abuja, CP Airwing, and CP Gombe State. Until his redeployment to Oyo state, he was CP Maritime Police Command, Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos.
