Rising from their national delegate Congress held recently at Ogun House, Plot 74 Central Business District Abuja, Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN), an affiliate of Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, has named Comrade Godwin Adokeme as their new acting President.
Hon. Adokeme takes over from Cmrd Augustine Agbo Apeh who was suspended recently for acts bordering on gross misconduct, mismanagement, high-handedness and engagement in anti-union activities.
The development was contained in a Communiqué issued by the Secretary-general of the union, Cmrd. Sunny Enag, dated 20th May, 2023, after the body’s Special Delegate Congress held at Ogun House, Opposite NACA/Federal Ministry of Finance, Plot 74, Ralph Shodinde Street Central Business District, Abuja.
Until his new appointment, Cmrd Adokeme was the immediate past Chairman, TOAN Bayelsa State Council.
Currently, he is Special Adviser to the Governor of Bayelsa State on Special Duties.
Adokeme will remain in office pending the outcome of the five-man committee appointed to investigate the allegations against the suspended President.
In his acceptance speech, Adokeme promised to run a government of inclusion and to assist in strengthening the organisation to be like other multinational transport unions in the country.
