The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, on Thursday said Ukraine pulled out of peace talks with Moscow in March on the United States’ order.
This was disclosed by the Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, during an interview with newsmen.
He said; “The text was ready and then suddenly the Ukrainian side went off the radar, the Ukrainian side declared its unwillingness to continue negotiations.”
‘’Putin considered it obvious that the decision to stop talks occurred on an order from Washington,” he added.
The current Chief of ECOWAS on Wednesday, Umaro Embalo, during a visit to Kyiv, had said that Putin had expressed his readiness to negotiate with the Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, when he paid him a visit.
When the Russian spokeman was asked about this development he said; “We are ready to ensure our interests at the negotiating table’’
“We want this, but in this case we are talking about a complete unwillingness on the part of Ukraine.”
Meanwhile, Zelensky had on Wednesday dismissed any possibility of talks with Moscow, denouncing Putin’s “planned rhetoric.”
Talks between Kyiv and Moscow have stalled since March, with both sides blaming the other for the stalemate.
