8 things to know about Jos, as Tin City 2022 PSN’s ANC draws closer

Less than three weeks to the Annual National Conference (ANC) of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), tagged “Tin City 2022”, with the theme, “Medicine Security in an Unstable Economy”, scheduled for October 31 to November 5, 2022, at Chrispan Suites and Events Centre, Rayfield, Jos, Plateau state, CEOAFRICA has looked at some of the important facts about Jos, which include:
1.    Jos is the capital of Plateau state (the home of peace and tourism)
2.    The tin city comfortably sits at an elevation of about 1,238 metres or 4,062 feet high above sea level.
3.    During British colonial rule, Jos was an important centre for tin mining.
4.    The city has a population of about 942,167, according to World Population Review.
5.    There are some tourists’ sites in Jos, like Jos Wildlife Safari Park, Pandam Game Reserve, Lake and Jos Zoological Garden, among others.
6.    Jos Wildlife Park is situated on eight square kilometers of land; it was established in 1972 and is located on Miango Road in Jos, has a lot of wild animals, birds, and reptiles, and a museum where one can learn about the history of the park.
7.    The Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) Jos Network Centre (formerly Benue/Plateau Television) was the first colour television station in West Africa and third in Africa, when it was established in 1974.
8.    Jos is one of the coldest cities in Nigeria and a haven for Europeans.
