The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, has reacted to the opinion poll which claimed that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi, defeated other presidential candidates to emerge winner of a nationwide opinion poll, which was set up by ANAP Foundation and conducted by NOI Polls Limited.
Recall that CEOAFRICA, just as many news media, earlier reported that Peter Obi bagged 21% support, while both the presidential flag-bearers of the ruling All Progressives’ Congress (APC) and the main opposition, People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Alhaji Abubakar Atiku, shared 13% support apiece in the poll, as illustrated by the founder of the ANAP Foundation, Mr Peterside Atedo.
Although the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP)’s Alhaji Musa Rabi’u Kwankwaso got 3%, about 32% were yet to decide who to support, while another 15% did not state who they were supporting, which made it difficult to conclude that Obi would win.
Meanwhile, in an interview with CEOAFRICA, the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba berated the poll, saying that the PDP is not dealing with online poll.
According to him, “We are not looking at the paper opinion. There is no vote on social media, Facebook and Whatsapp. We don’t deal with online poll. We are an organized party, we deal with opinion of the people and not online.”
“We deal with people that know that a bag of rice in 2015 was 8000 naira and today that bag of rice is over 30,000 naira. We deal with people that know that APC government is a failure. We deal with people that know that their children have been out of school for seven months.”
“The opinion that matter to PDP is the disunity in this country that we need to fix. You know that the exchange rate was 150 naira in 2015 and today it is 700-naira, diesel was 150 naira in 2015 and today it is 900 naira. APC is a failure. They have destroyed this country.  And the only hope for Nigerians is the PDP and Atiku. So, that is the opinion that matters to us.”
As at the time of filing this report, the other three political parties, LP, APC and NNPP, were yet to respond to the contacts made with them by CEOAFRICA.
