The Federal Government has suspended the proposed excise duty on telecommunication services.
The Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami disclosed the suspension on Monday in Abuja, during the inaugural meeting of the Presidential committee on the Excise Duty for the Digital Economy Sector.
Recall that the Federal Government  through the Budget Office of the Federation announced its commencement to implement of its proposed excise duties on telecommunication services and beverages in 2023
Pantami further stated that the telecommunications sector is already overburdened by excessive and multiple taxation and he is against the implementation of this tax, as it will increase the cost of telecommunication services for Nigerians.
