Photo News: Anglican Communion honours Chrisland University Chancellor, Awosika, VC, Others, at 46th Anniversary of Egba Diocese

Chancellor and Founder, Chrisland University, Abeokuta, High Chief Dr. (Mrs) Winifred Awosika, OON  has been honoured by The Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) in commemoration of the 46th anniversary of Egba Diocese.
The award ceremony was held on Sunday 7th August, 2022 during a thanksgiving service at the Cathedral Church of St Peters Ake, Abeokuta.
According to a statement from the Diocese, the Rt. Rev (Dr.) Emmanuel Adekunle, the Diocesan Bishop of Egba Anglican Communion conferred the highest honour of the Diocesan Award of Excellence on Mama Awosika.


Interestingly, the Diocese also considered the Vice-Chancellor, Chrisland University, Prof Chinedum Peace Babalola, FAS, as well as a member of the institution's Governing Council, Mrs Comfort Ogunseinde, worthy of honour.


Prof Babalola and Mrs Ogunseinde both received the Diocesan Award of True Christian Stewardship alongside 19 others at the event.
The anniversary was a weeklong event parading series of programmes including communion service, market revival, security talk, business summit and a day of praise and worship.
Delivering a sermon titled: Living As Responsible Citizens, the Bishop emphasized the reality that all christians have dual citizenship, that of nationality of being Nigerians and that of God's Kingdom.

The main plank of the Bishop's exhortation was anchored on Mark 12: 26- 31.
Rev Adekunle admonished christians to develop the mindset of directing their focus more on things above than carnal and earthly desires.
He urged christians to be law abiding and respect authority in every place.
The cleric also charged them to join forces together to wage war against all forms of evil and sinful tendencies.
Congratulating the Matriarch of the Awosika family for the honour,  the Bishop lauded her efforts as a privileged Nigerian with many innumerable  contributions to Education in Nigeria, to the church and to the cause of humanity.


The Chrisland University Founder was accompanied to the event by several eminent personalities including the institution's Registrar,  Mr Samuel Omotoso, Bursar, Mr Moses Esah, Principal Assistant Registrar, Establishment and Council, Mr Olusola Aladesuru and the Acting Director, Academic Affairs, Dr Mercy Agumadu.
