A’Ibom police commissioner orders deployment of security to correctional centres

The Commissioner of Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Olatoye Durosinmi, has ordered the deployment of more security personnel to all Correctional Centres across the state.

A statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon, issued on Tuesday, said the CP ordered the deployment when he undertook a two-day tour of Custodian facilities in company of Mr Julius Ezugwu, Controller of Corrections, Nigerian Correctional Service, Akwa Ibom State.

The statement was titled, ‘CP Olatoye Durosinmi assessed and redesigned security at all correctional facilities in Akwa Ibom’.

While stating that the move is a proactive security measure to prevent “untoward incident” in the state, the CP warned officers in each of the facility to be vigilant and courageous in the discharge of their duties and urged them to report any suspicious movement to security agencies

Part of the statement read, “As a proactive security measure to prevent any untoward incident, the Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State, Olatoye Durosinmi, has toured all correctional facilities located within the State at Uyo, Ikot Ekpene, Eket and Ikot Abasi.

“As a preventive measure, the CP ordered for the immediate deployment of more Police Personnel to boost the security situation in each of the facilities and warned the officers to be vigilant and courageous.

“While enjoining law abiding citizens to go about their lawful duties, he urged them to quickly report criminal and suspicious elements to Security Agencies or call any of the Command’s Emergency Hotlines: 08039213071, 08189243935, 08081388797.”
