Honorable Olajide Olushina Olatoye popularly known as Big Daddy who is a chieftain of People Democratic Party (PDP) and a brother to Late Honorable Olaoye Sugar on Saturday 29th January 2022 declared his intention to contest for the ticket of the party to represent the good people of Akinyele/ Lagelu federal constituency in the House of Representatives.

Olajide made the declaration at the Annual New Year Party organized by the Sugar dynasty to celebrate with the people of Akinyele /Lagelu Federal Constituency.

In his declaration, he recounted the indelible marks of his younger brother late honorable Isaac Olatoye Temitope Sugar who annually organized the party for the people of Akinyele./ lagelu federal constituency.

Big Daddy stated that “late Temitope was a lover of developmental projects that touched thousands of lives within and outside the political sphere”

Honorable Olajide further said that the Annual New Year Party has been on hold ever since the demise of the political philanthropist honorable Isaac Olatoye Temitope Sugar.

The House of representative hopeful went on to state some of the latest developmental projects done by the sugar dynasty in Akinyele /lagelu federal constituency which includes scholarship to indigents students, empowerment programme for women and youths, free medical care and ICT training for youths.

Hon Olajide revealed his plans to continue the humanitarian projects of his late brother and even do much more as the federal representative of Akinyele/Lagelu federal constituency

In his words, “Having being persuaded, encouraged and challenged by the good people of Akinyele Lagelu and the love for the down trodden and sincere passion to further improve human welfare as passionately pursue and implemented by late honorable sugar, we have consulted widely within and outside political circle”

“In all the 26 wards in both Akinyele Lagelu local government and Oyo state at large, the student, youth, women, artisan, technocrats as well as several political and opinion leaders, the Olatoye political household has therefore resolved by the total support and grace of almighty God and the support of you all to use this medium to humbly present myself, Honorable Olajide Olushina Alade Olatoye for the exalted position of the house of representative hopeful to represent the good people of Akinyele and Lagelu federal constituency”

“It is on record that opinion leaders are yelling for Lagelu candidate for this position because of an earlier zoning arrangement between leaders of the two LGA’s. In order to fulfill the agreement, despite all granting chance, honorable Sugar refused to return to the house of rep in the year 2019 and opted for the senate before the sad incident occurred”.

“I strongly appeal to our brethren from Akinyele Local government whose son owns the seat even when development and governance has almost being non-existing since his emergence as federal representative Perhaps because of old age, non-preparedness or being imposed by the deposed APC government in Oyo State; hence we tagged our movement as Liberation 2023, I seek your support all”.

Speaking to CEOAFRICA, Honorable Olajide said the legacy of his late junior brother and his indelible mark was what informed his decision to declare for House of Representative. In terms of expectation, he said that the Government of Oyo State has laid the right foundation for them all and he plans to follow in his footstep for the langelu constituency.

He however stated that he had a track record in politics “I was part of the youth prefect in Ibadan North who organized campaign for the former Governor of Oyo State and many other political stewards in the state.

Speaking at the event, His royal highness, Alakinyele of Akinyele, Oba James Oluyemi Odeniran, said Honorable Olajide Olushina Olatoye ambition is a good one that will benefit the people of Akinyele local government since his intention is to uplift the people being a son of the soil. He prays that God will make his ambition to see the light of day.

Present at the occasion are the Executive Governor of Oyo state , Oluseyi Makinde ably represented by Mr. Benedict Akika, His Royal highness, Oba Odeniran James Oluyemi of Akinyele, Honorable Gbadamosi Kazeem, the eleceted executive chairman of lagelu local government, Former PDP Chairman Akinyele Constituency, Otunba Badmos Adekola, Alhaji Musako Fasisi (Chief Imam), Superior Evangelist Ayokun Shobowale among others.
