University of Lethbridge’s lecturer Dr. Awosoga holds lecture at Chrisland University

 THURSDAY- 11th November, 2021: Dr. Oluwagbohunmi  Awosoga,  an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Lethbridge, Canada yesterday held a lecture on ‘Overview of Common Statistical Techniques’ at the Chrisland University Ogun State, Nigeria.
Dr. Awosoga who is also  a Research Affiliate of the Prentice Institute for Global Population and Economy said in his teaching that while interpreting Statistics, students should be wary of generalizing, as details is in the analysis of data.
He added that what determines appropriate Statistics to run is based on the specific question being asked or  the stated research hypothesis while he mentioned two main types of statistics as the Descriptive and inferential.
 The  Applied Statistician by profession with over 25 years of post-secondary teaching experience with a keen interest in the application of statistics in Education, Health and Social Sciences,  received his MSc in Statistics from the University of Lagos and his PhD from Western Michigan University.
He also talked on other important topics such as; types of research studies, sampling in research, commonly used sampling methods, well known statistical software , research designs ,ways in  which participants are assigned to different groups amongst many other topics.
The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Chinedum Babalola who attended the lecture virtually, applauded Dr Awosoga for his efforts while reiterating the fact that the well respected Statistician came into Nigeria for the first time in 20 years to deliver the lecture.
Prof. Babalola also noted that the Statistical Centre will kick-off at the university with the software for the aid of students of the school.
She also presented an award of recognition to  Dr. Olu Awosoga for his immense contribution.
