NUFFIC Tailor Made Training

Women play great role in food security, nutrition- FCAH&PT Provost

The Provost of Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology (FCAH&PT), Dr. Owosibo Adekoya Olatunde has stated that the contribution of women in food security and nutrition is very essential. 
He said this during a 5-day training in Ibadan at the NUFFIC Tailor Made Training on the theme “Enhancing Women Empowerment and Food Security Through Effective Agribusiness Management in Nigeria”, which was organized by the Institution, alongside KIT Royal Tropical Institute, and The Netherlands and Department of Agribusiness Management.
Dr. Owosibo who spoke at the training as one of the organisers stated that the contribution of women in issues like nutrition and food security of a country cannot be overemphasized and should be treated as national issues.
Speaking on his opinion about the organized training, he stated that the training was of importance to the nation as it dealt with the issue of women empowerment and food security for social and economic development.
He went further to appreciate the Netherlands University Foundation for International Cooperation (NUFFIC) for sponsoring the training, as well as the Kit Royal Institute, and the Netherlands and Department of Agribusiness Management for their collaboration on the training, adding that all participants must try their hardest in impacting the nation into realizing its mandate with the information learnt from the training.
In the same vein, Dr. Salawu M. B. a lecturer at FCAH&PT, also appreciated the supports from NUFFIC and FCAH&PT in addition to invaluable contributions of KIT Royal Institute, The Netherlands and Department of Agribusiness Management, Mrs. Akinyemi Atinuke, the President of Netherlands Alumni Association (PTC+) Chapter in Nigeria, The ICT crew led by Dr. Akinosho and members of Agribusiness Management Department in ensuring the success of the 5-day training.
The training which was held to address of women’s exclusion in developmental interventions also had in attendance other dignitaries like the Director of Academic, Dr Ayodeji; Director of Entrepreneurship, Dr Raji, A.M.; Director of Vocational Training, Dr. Banjoko and Librarian of the College, Alhaja Arilesere who all took turns at speaking at the training
The five-day training which commenced on Monday, 18th October and drew its curtains today, 22nd October, featured series of sessions with representatives of KIT Royal Tropical Institute, and The Netherlands led by Mona Dhamankar on Basic Gender Concepts, Gender Analysis Frameworks, Gender Sensitive Value Chain Mapping, Gender-Based Constraints in Value Chain Development, Gender Lens in the Context of Value Chains and Agribusiness as well as Field Exercise on Mapping Value Chains Using a Gender Lens.
