Gunmen storm Living Faith church in Kogi, kidnapped three members

TUESDAY- 31st August, 2021: nThree members of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, popularly known as Winners Chapel, located in Osara community, Adavi LGA in Kogi state have been kidnapped by gunmen.

It was gathered that the gunmen reportedly invaded the church premises at the weekend when members were holding a rehearsal.

The gunmen were said to have shot sporadically into the air during the attack to scare members of the community away.

Joseph Salami, chairman of Adavi LGA, confirmed the incident via a statement released by Jamiu Habeeb, his media aide, on Monday.

The council chairman, who visited the scene of the incident alongside the divisional police officer of Osara division confirmed that a staff member of the Confluence University of Science and Technology and two students of Kogi State Polytechnic were the victims.

Salami assured residents that the government and security agencies will ensure the release of the victims, while asking residents to always stay at home at night.

“Ever before now, we had series of meetings with the people of Osara Community and entire farm center, told them to restrict every night activities for now,” the council chairman said.

“Whoever wants to hold any activity in the night should get appropriate quarters informed and also get their approval to ensure that adequate security is provided, but out of their disobedience, they choose otherwise.

“We all know the security challenges of this country, and the administration under the leadership of his Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello is doing everything humanly possible to keep Kogi State safe, protect lives and property. So, all hands must be on deck to strengthen the peace in our various communities.”

As of the time of filing this report, William Aya, the state police spokesperson, did not respond to calls and a text message sent to him.
